２０２５年６月２７日（金）、鹿児島大学下荒田キャンパス内の図書館セミナールームにおいて、タイ・カセサート大学と共同でセミナー「持続可能な漁業に向けて：コスト削減と環境負荷軽減のためのスマート漁業技術」を開催いたしました。
このセミナーは、鹿児島大学の「進取の精神」支援基金による全学グローバル交流推進事業の一環として行われ、ASEAN諸国と日本で構成される国際機関「東南アジア漁業開発センター（SEAFDEC）」からの協力もいただきました。
鹿児島大学の教員・大学院生およびカセサート大学の大学院生が、スマート技術を活用した漁業の効率化や水産資源や海洋環境に与える影響を軽減する漁業技術についての研究成果を発表しました。
オンラインで参加したカセサート大学やSEAFDECの教員・研究者から多くの質問や意見が寄せられ、日本だけでなく東南アジアの熱帯地域における持続可能な漁業に向けて、有意義な交流の場となりました。
Bilateral seminar on Fisheries and Sustainability: KU (Thailand) and KU (Japan) “Toward Sustainable Fisheries: Smart fishing technology for cost reduction and environmental conservation”
Kagoshima University hosted on Friday, June 27, 2025, a bilateral seminar with Kasetsart University, Thailand titled “Toward Sustainable Fisheries: Smart fishing technology for cost reduction and environmental conservation” at the seminar room of the library, the Shimoarata Campus.
This seminar was supported by Kagoshima University’s ‘Enterprising Spirit’ Support Fund, which enables students from partner universities abroad to study about the regional issues in Kagoshima while engaging with the local community. In addition, the seminar was conducted with the generous cooperation of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC), an international organization comprising ASEAN countries and Japan.
A faculty member and postgraduate students from both Kagoshima University and Kasetsart University presented their research on the use of smart technologies to improve the efficiency of fishing activity and seafood distribution, and fishing technology for reducing the impact on fisheries resources and the ocean environment.
Professors and researchers from Kasetsart University and SEAFDEC also joined the seminar online. Their insightful questions and comments contributed to a meaningful exchange of ideas, fostering progress toward sustainable fisheries not only in Japan but also across the tropical regions of Southeast Asia.
