3. Scientific name: Pagrus major (Temminck and Schlegel, 1843)
4. Characteristics: The species is distributed widely around Japanese coastal waters. They are one of the most important fishery target species in Japan. In Kagoshima Bay, the main spawning season is from February to May. In Kagoshima Bay, they are called as Sakura-dai in the spawning season when is the best season for them. They grow faster in Kagoshima Bay than other areas and some individuals are older than 20 years.
