Seminar on Korean and Norwegian Fisheries Industries and Science

Professor Suk-Jong Kim of Jeju National University, College of Ocean Sciences, Korea.

A seminar on Korean and Norwegian fisheries industries and science was held on 5th July 2019.
We invited Professor Suk-Jong Kim of Jeju National University, College of Ocean Sciences, Department of Marine Industry and Marine Police, and Ms. Kana Banno, graduate of Master’s in Biology, Norwegian College of Fishery Science, UiT.
Professor Suk-Jong Kim described the current situation of the Korean fisheries industry and capture fisheries conducted in Jeju Island.
Several topics of his research projects, such as labor saving by installing new instruments onboard were introduced.

 

Ms. Kana Banno, graduate of Master’s in Biology, Norwegian College of Fishery Science, UiT.

Ms. Kana Banno talked about her experiences studying and living in Tromso. She also introduced the latest technology of Norwegian salmon aquaculture.
There were many participants attending these presentations (6 teachers and 31 students), and many students took an interest and asked some questions to the speakers after the lectures.
This seminar was a great opportunity to get new information on Korean capture fisheries and Norwegian aquaculture.
