The Fisheries Faculty signed an academic exchange agreement with the UFRA in February this year. As part of the exchange, in May 2019 Professor Maeda and Assistant Professor Okunishi visited UFRA and UFRA Branch in Tomé-Açu (Tomeas). UFRA is a national university in Brazil. It is an agricultural and fisheries university with 17 undergraduate schools and approximately 6,500 students.
In 2013, when President Yoshida and Executive Director Maeda visited Brazil, they met with Professor Ito of UFRA and were asked to start collaboration. After that, Prof. Yoshikawa visited UFRA in 2015 and discussed with Prof. Ito. In addition, when President Maeda and Vice President Takamatsu visited Brazil in 2018, they agreed to start a collaboration to meet and exchange information with Professor Ito of UFRA, and concluded an academic exchange agreement.
